I gotta say I’m really proud of the title I gave my review for this book: “Praying with Fire.” See what I did there?
OK, don’t let my humor keep you from Jamie Quatro’s Fire Sermon. Your own sense of propriety and tolerance for carnal mysticism might put you off this novel, but to me it is the testimony of a modern-day Julian of Norwich. Maggie, the novel’s protagonist, is a fool for love, especially the elusive, compelling divine kind. If she can only work her way through the lasting effects of the affair that has broken open her journey into mid-life.
Read the review and decide if it’s for you.
